r/place 2022

r/place 2022 was an event that took place on Reddit from April 1 to April 4, 2022. The first instance of r/place occurred in 2017. During the event, a shared canvas of pixels appeared on the r/place subreddit on Reddit, upon which users could each place a single pixel of color every five minutes.

Rollout of colors

On Day 1, the 16 available colors were red, orange, yellow, dark green, light green, dark blue, blue, light blue, dark purple, purple, light pink, brown, white, light gray, gray, and black.

At the start of Day 2, along with the first expansion of the canvas, dark red, pink, dark teal, teal, indigo, periwinkle, green, and dark brown were added to the palette, making for a total of 24 colors.

At the start of Day 3, along with the second expansion of the canvas, burgundy, pale yellow, light teal, lavender, pale purple, magenta, beige, and dark grey were added to the palette, thus making the total number of colors available throughout the entire event 32.

At the end of Day 4, all colors were disabled with the sole exception of the color white, thus triggering The Great Whiteout.
