In this edition of r/place, Portugal was only organized with members of the Portuguese Reddit community without the logistical help of r/portugal, due their protest to the API restrictions in 2023

By initiative of some members of the Portuguese community, a new community was created on discord, called TugaPlace, that brought the attention of portuguese Twitch streamers to r/place. However, in the beginning of their participation on r/place, there was a lack of communication between the community and the streamers due to their resistance to join TugaPlace's discord server, which caused the destruction of Argentina, One Piece, Jordan, Poland and FoxHole, who was an ally. Followed by the destruction of Argentina

After many divergences between part of the moderation team, the streamers, a great part of the users (originally participants in the community) and artists there was a mass ban wave of 200 people in one night. After the ban wave, some users also had shown some signs of dissatisfaction, but they were rapidly contained by the moderation team.

It's also worth mentioning the manipulation that was present during votes for the flag's design, the flag was voted not once, but twice in TugaPlace's Discord, achieving a ratio of 6.5x in favor in the first, and a more modest 2.5x in the second, although with a higher total number of votes (in addition to the 500). Even with a dishonest and biased vote made by Kazzio on his Twitch channel, the flag still managed to get 30% of the votes.

Later, the banned part of the moderation team and some banned users (most of the banned users never were contacted, due to Discord's limitations) regrouped and formed a new community firstly named TugaPlaceOG and later changed to Place_PT, and started drawing azulejos (tiles) elsewhere.
