r/brasil is the subreddit for Brazil (officially the Federative Republic of Brazil or República Federativa do Brasil in Brazilian Portuguese). It is the largest country to have Portuguese as an official language and the only one in the Americas, and it is the world's fifth-largest country by area and the sixth most populous. Bounded by the Atlantic Ocean on the east, Brazil has a coastline of 7,491 kilometers (4,655 mi). It borders all other countries and territories in South America except Ecuador and Chile and covers 47.3% of the continent's land area.

During r/place 2017, the community initially organized using a unofficial Discord server that would be known to veteran users as "Miaau". Members of that server eventually flocked to the r/brasil Discord server. In r/place 2022, users of the subreddit were incentivized to organize their efforts using the official Discord server of the subreddit.

r/place 2022

The main Brazilian subreddit on Reddit, r/brasil, made an announcement about r/place, encouraging users to go to the Discord server.[1]. Some posts by u/Tetizeraz were pinned in the subreddit[2][3]. Users from the Discord, but also outside it, would post in the subreddit with the hopes of coordinating or suggesting artworks that could be added next to the original Brazilian flag.

The community initially used a Google Sheets and HackMD documents to coordinate pixel placement. In the next days, a overlay[4] and a fork of the r/placeNL script[5] would be used.
