The '''United Gacha Alliance''', commonly known as the '''Gacha Alliance''', is an alliance of gacha game-related communities.

Gacha is a subgenre of free-to-play live service games (mostly on mobile but PC and even console versions exist as well, though these are very few and far between) whose common element is that specific in-game items are mainly obtained through an entirely randomized process that emulates Gachapon machines around which most of the game's monetization is built, which is why it's usually compared to gambling.

The games can encompass a variety of genres such as RPGs (of which turn-based ones are the most common), action, strategy, tower defense, rhythm, open-world and many more. Players can gravitate towards the genre for many reasons. Some find fun in managing wisely their limited resources, others want to collect characters, others find a particular gameplay interesting while others just want a game they can put a couple minutes of their commute into while still feeling that they are making progress. Others are just gambling addicts.

Contrary to popular belief, most gacha players are aware of the predatory practices surrounding this genre and are willing to aid people who are prone to develop a gambling addiction.

The world of Arknights, known as Terra, is set in a post-apocalyptic setting where natural disasters, known as Catastrophes, ravage the land and leave behind a valuable material known as Originium. In Arknights, players take on the role of a researcher and field commander known only as the Doctor, who at the time of the game's start, has a very severe case of amnesia. As they are thrust into the heat of combat, the player must coordinate a number of humanoid characters with animal or mythological features known as "operators" of Rhodes Island, a pharmaceuticals company that also has acted as a self-defense organization with its own private army. Operators can contribute to battles in a variety of ways, whether it may through melee or ranged combat, the healing/support of other operators, and the use of magic known as "Arts".

Arknights was released in China on the 1st of May 2019, globally on the 16th of January 2020, and in Taiwan on the 29th of June of the same year. The first project undertaken by Arknights was a blue text that said "Arknights". At first, due to the small size of the canvas on the first day, it was shortened to r/AK (standing for Arknights) and it was accompanied by a chibi Amiya as well as a logo of Rhodes Island(symbolized by a blue triangle with a rook). When the canvas extended, the Rhodes Island logo was deleted in favor of more space, and the r/AK text was rebranded to "Arknights", where it stood until the end of the canvas. The chibi Amiya was also kept for a very long time, until it was intentionally removed so that a small Poland flag adjacent to it could extend its borders. The Arknights text has been attacked more than once from rouge bots of the r/CLTV (anti-Chinese community) subreddit that were trying to extend the Pooh art's ear, though the Arknights community has successfully defended against all of these attacks.

Originally, a logo for the Reunion movement (one of the game's antagonists) was placed above the Arknights text. The icon, which looked similar to a DNA strand, would then be abandoned in favor of the other projects.

At this location, Arknights was allied with the r/Tetris community, the small Poland flag, and the "SP" and "i" artworks. Arknights was also on neutral terms with the r/CLTV community and the VRChat community.

This project was intended as a pet project by one of the Arknights r/place community leaders in an attempt to alleviate the lack of activity from the group. Dubbed as "Swagmiya", "Smugmiya", and "Pogmiya", the simple artwork featured the game's mascot, Amiya, with a smug smile and a pair of sunglasses. Situated near the original Arknights text and adjacent to the Elden Ring/Hollow Knight artwork and below the Genshin Impact Chinese logo, the project was finished within 3 hours of the first pixel being placed. The artwork did face an attack by an unknown group of attackers towards the end of the canvas, but the Arknights r/place community did manage to restore the artwork back to its original state, where it stood with little activity until the end of the canvas. Occasional appearances of "crewmate" from the popular game "Among Us" have occured on Amiya's hair, which got quickly patched and when whiteout occured, no such sight was spotted.

At some point, blushing Amiya was introduced by adding 2 pink pixel on both of her cheeks, but was reverted by the community's decision to adhere to the planned design.

At this location, Arknights was allied with Genshin Impact and Poland Ball.

In a collaboration with multiple other gacha game communities in the Gacha Alliance, Arknights created its icon alongside the r/place communities of Girls' Frontline, Guardian Tales, Honkai Impact 3rd, Genshin Impact, and eventually Touhou LostWord, Uma Musume, Azur Lane, and Poland Ball. With the addition of Azur Lane overlapping parts of the Arknights icon as well as parts of the Blue Archive icon, some members of the Gacha Alliance communities have taken to calling it "The Yostar Trio" due to the games sharing the same publisher: Yostar Games.

As Arknights was the first community to complete its first rendition of its icon, the community was also involved with the construction of the other gacha communities' icons, as well as the defense and reconstruction of the Gacha Alliance and its allies. This was made abundantly clear when Russian streamer 5opka invaded the Gacha Alliance through the logos of Honkai Impact 3rd and Genshin Impact, which was repelled with the combined forces of the Gacha Alliance as well as streamers BTMC and Enviosity.

The Arknights app icon itself featured Amiya, marking the character's third appearance in the entire canvas. The icon underwent 2 revision after its construction in an attempt to be more faithful to the actual Arknights app icon. Even after its completion, it saw many mistakes and independent trolling attempts, which were most concentrated on Amiya's eyes, nose, and mouth. Amiya's mouth was also a hot topic for debate amongst the Arknights r/place community, as there was a faction that wanted Amiya to have a smile, while another faction wanted to keep to the original by having her keep a neutral face. In the end, Amiya was given a smile before the beginning of the end of the canvas.

Through the duration of r/place 2022, the artwork went through many design changes as a result of many factors.

The very first plan for an artwork by the Arknights community was posted to the subreddit on April 1, 10:24 AM (UTC-4) which depicts a 93x84 [https://arknights.fandom.com/wiki/Rhodes_Island Rhodes Island] logo in black and white. The logo features a rook enclosed by a triangular outline in the background and the Rhodes Island text on the bottom. The location chosen to build this concept was around (324,48).

The second plan after a failed first attempt was a small rook on a dark blue triangle with an orange background. The chosen site to build this concept was around (968, 113). This was later moved right by a few pixels, color lightened to blue and the text r/AK being added to the left of the symbol. A final revision for this plan called for a very small [https://arknights.fandom.com/wiki/Amiya Amiya] (character from the game) to be added to the left of a shrunken r/AK text, [https://arknights.fandom.com/wiki/Reunion Reunion] symbol to be added above "SP 2" and the rook symbol to be moved right by a few pixels again.

With the first expansion of the canvas, [[Arknights]] members started to expand the current territory to the right with plans to make the full length of the subreddit name and a few more character faces. This also meant that the rook had to be removed. Due to streamer Elraenn wiping out the newly claimed space, the design would be changed to feature just the small Amiya and text "Arknights!!". In the first few hours of the canvas, a small amount of members from the [https://www.reddit.com/r/arknights/ r/Arknights subreddit] attempted to build the black and white Rhodes Island logo near (324,48). The border of the triangle was finished 3 hours after the canvas began with it being smaller than planned. Work began to secure the triangle from the corners by turning it black. This was never successfully completed however. The Netherland flag clipped the top of the triangle during their flag expansion and eventually the rest was wiped out by the [[Nordic Union]]. This failure was largely due to the size of the planned build being much bigger than what the small amount of members participating could viably build. As well as the location of the build being in the way of larger communities. One glaring mistake from the early build was the fact that the triangle was not symmetrical which was never able to be corrected.

After the failed first attempt, the second attempt called for a much smaller and simpler [https://arknights.fandom.com/wiki/Rhodes_Island Rhodes Island] logo relocated to (968,113). Now with a dedicated discord server to coordinate this, the build was able to be recognized 9 hours after the canvas began. During the construction, the [[VR Chat]] and [[Placetris|Tetris]] community began to build in the vicinity with much more members. Seeing this, a representative was sent to negotiate with them which resulted in an alliance forming between the communities. [[Arknights]] was combined into their plans, which saw the logo moved a few pixels to the right and text saying "r/AK" (shortened name of the subreddit) was added underneath Tetris. After 11 hours since the canvas opened, the first iteration of the combined artwork was completed. This version of the work remained unchanged and mostly untouched for another 12 hours. April 2, 05:38 (UTC-4), Arknights made contact with the [[r/china place|r/CLTV]] community below and was reassured that they would not expand upwards even though they were missing an ear, thus marking the start of a non-aggression agreement.

On April 2, 08:17 (UTC-4), a small [https://arknights.fandom.com/wiki/Amiya Amiya] was announced to be put in the space occupied by the "r/AK" text while making the logo and text smaller. This was greenlit by the VR Chat and Tetris community who assisted with the project. 2 hours before the first expansion, a [https://arknights.fandom.com/wiki/Reunion Reunion] logo was added above the "SP" text. Around April 2, 12:15 (UTC-4) 27 hours after the canvas opened, the canvas expanded right. Immediately, the Arknights community was tasked with expanding the area. The expansion began quite successfully with large areas being captured by the Arknights, Tetris and VR Chat communities. Plans for a small [https://arknights.fandom.com/wiki/Exusiai Exusiai] and the full subreddit name was approved. This meant that the current rook had to be demolished and the text "r/Arknights" spelt out through it. All changed after the demolition of the rook and "r/Arknights" text completed. Twitch streamer Elraenn cleared out everything in the new area to build a portrait of the Atatürk which marked the end to the plans. Thus, the text was changed to just "Arknights" and "!!" was added by and unknown group but was kept.

Throughout the 3rd and 4th day of the event, there were many attempts by multiple groups to expand the Pooh ear through the Arknights text. The r/CLTV community who is in a non-aggression pact with Arknights did not claim responsibility for these attacks. Many theories on who was responsible for these attacks was created as a result. Theories such as rogue members, random redditors and improperly configured bots were thrown around. While some of the attempts were confirmed to be rogue members, the other theories could not be definitively proven. On April 3, 19:18 (UTC-4), it was announced that the small Amiya would be demolished to allow for the expansion of the small polish flag (not related to Poland). Throughout the 2nd, 3rd and 4th days of the event, there were multiple attempts to expand the pooh ear from the art underneath into the Arknights text. During the first expansion attempt, the Arknights community representatives asked the r/CLTV community about the violation of the non-aggression agreement but they denied any involvement in the attempted expansion. Thus, the attempted invasion was generally agreed to be from random groups of redditors and was successfully defended. Subsequent invasions prompted further investigation from the Arknights community but was blamed on incorrectly configured bots and rogue members. The group responsible for the pooh ear expansions was never found and all invasions were successfully repelled.

The work is centered at (1149,103) with an area of 876 pixels. The name given to this work upon conceptualization was "MLG Amiya" but quickly began to be referred to as other names. "Swagmiya" was eventually adopted as the official name at some point.

The finalized plan for this artwork was a 25x30 version of the character Amiya in a blue jacket wearing sunglasses to be built around (1149, 78). The background color was undecided at the time the project began on April 2, 21:21 (UTC-4). Originally, the concept did not include sunglasses and depicted her with blue eyes. The sunglasses were proposed and adopted to fix the unnatural look of her eyes due to the limited resolution.

== Creation ==
Towards the end of the 2nd day, many of the community members were becoming bored from the lack of activity within the group. To alleviate this, the community leaders began to plan this project around April 2, 20:46 (UTC-4) after a quick check with the community to gauge interest. Due to a [[Gacha Alliance app icons|large ambitious collaboration]] being planned for the final canvas expansion, the concept was quickly drafted with extra details missing as this was deemed a side project. At 21:21 (UTC-4), the plan was finalized with Swagmiya to be built around (1149, 78) and an announcement made to the community.

Soon after construction began, it was discovered that the [[Genshin Impact]] community also planned to build there and started their construction as well. At 22:22 (UTC-4), an agreement was reached with Genshin Impact. This called for Swagmiya to be moved down to around (1149, 103) in exchange for mutual defense. As the build progressed, the community voted for the background to be teal with a cyan border with the build finishing on April 3, 00:23 (UTC-4), roughly 39:35 (canvas time). A dark teal diamond in the background would be the final addition to the artwork added shortly after completion of the background.

The work would go mostly unchanged through the third day. The hair would frequently be turned into [[Among Us Crewmates|Among Us crewmates]] and then turned back again. Some details in the hair would be lost to combat these crewmates which led to the hair shifting down to the sunglasses. Half way through the fourth day, Swagmiya was attacked by an unknown group of users placing black pixels. Facing fierce resistance, the attack stopped after a short while and accomplished nothing. The art was repaired and restored but eventually drifted away from the plans again which resulted in the piece on the final canvas differing slightly from the concept.<gallery mode="traditional" widths="170" heights="200">

On April 4, 12:25 (UTC-4), this artwork was attacked by (at the time) an unknown group placing only black pixels. At 12:30 (UTC-4), the [[Gacha Alliance]] was alerted to the attack and helped defend. Facing fierce resistance from [[Arknights]] and the rest of the Gacha Alliance, the attack was successfully repelled after 15 minutes of fighting. After further investigation using the reddit dataset, it was discovered that many of the participants had new accounts and placed pixels on the Turkish flag or other Turkish related artworks. It is speculated that the attack was caused by an influencer with a Turkish audience. This is largely due to the behavior and attack pattern being highly similar to confirmed attacks by small streamers and influencers in the previous 3 days.

The first project undertaken by Arknights was a blue text that said "Arknights". At first, due to the small size of the canvas on the first day, it was shortened to r/AK (standing for Arknights) and it was accompanied by a chibi Amiya as well as a logo of Rhodes Island(symbolized by a blue triangle with a rook). When the canvas extended, the Rhodes Island logo was deleted in favor of more space, and the r/AK text was rebranded to "Arknights", where it stood until the end of the canvas. The chibi Amiya was also kept for a very long time, until it was intentionally removed so that a small Poland flag adjacent to it could extend its borders. The Arknights text has been attacked more than once from rouge bots of the r/CLTV (anti-Chinese community) subreddit that were trying to extend the Pooh art's ear, though the Arknights community has successfully defended against all of these attacks.

Originally, a logo for the Reunion movement (one of the game's antagonists) was placed above the Arknights text. The icon, which looked similar to a DNA strand, would then be abandoned in favor of the other projects.

This project was intended as a pet project by one of the Arknights r/place community leaders in an attempt to alleviate the lack of activity from the group. Dubbed as "Swagmiya", "Smugmiya", and "Pogmiya", the simple artwork featured the game's mascot, Amiya, with a smug smile and a pair of sunglasses. Situated near the original Arknights text and adjacent to the Elden Ring/Hollow Knight artwork and below the Genshin Impact Chinese logo, the project was finished within 3 hours of the first pixel being placed. The artwork did face an attack by an unknown group of attackers towards the end of the canvas, but the Arknights r/place community did manage to restore the artwork back to its original state, where it stood with little activity until the end of the canvas. Occasional appearances of "crewmate" from the popular game "Among Us" have occured on Amiya's hair, which got quickly patched and when whiteout occured, no such sight was spotted.

At some point, blushing Amiya was introduced by adding 2 pink pixel on both of her cheeks, but was reverted by the community's decision to adhere to the planned design.

At this location, Arknights was allied with Genshin Impact and Poland Ball.

In a collaboration with multiple other gacha game communities in the Gacha Alliance, Arknights created its icon alongside the r/place communities of Girls' Frontline, Guardian Tales, Honkai Impact 3rd, Genshin Impact, and eventually Touhou LostWord, Uma Musume, Azur Lane, and Poland Ball. With the addition of Azur Lane overlapping parts of the Arknights icon as well as parts of the Blue Archive icon, some members of the Gacha Alliance communities have taken to calling it "The Yostar Trio" due to the games sharing the same publisher: Yostar Games.

As Arknights was the first community to complete its first rendition of its icon, the community was also involved with the construction of the other gacha communities' icons, as well as the defense and reconstruction of the Gacha Alliance and its allies. This was made abundantly clear when Russian streamer 5opka invaded the Gacha Alliance through the logos of Honkai Impact 3rd and Genshin Impact, which was repelled with the combined forces of the Gacha Alliance as well as streamers BTMC and Enviosity.

The Arknights app icon itself featured Amiya, marking the character's third appearance in the entire canvas. The icon underwent 2 revision after its construction in an attempt to be more faithful to the actual Arknights app icon. Even after its completion, it saw many mistakes and independent trolling attempts, which were most concentrated on Amiya's eyes, nose, and mouth. Amiya's mouth was also a hot topic for debate amongst the Arknights r/place community, as there was a faction that wanted Amiya to have a smile, while another faction wanted to keep to the original by having her keep a neutral face. In the end, Amiya was given a smile before the beginning of the end of the canvas.
