The Mr. Robot / Rassicas Alliance, also known as the r/MrRobot / Rassicas Alliance, was the faction of r/Place 2022 formed by the merging of the Rassicas faction with the Mr. Robot r/Place Discord server, responsible for three art pieces on the board as well as a large number of alliances. Counting all three of the alliance's art pieces as well as the allies they shared direct borders with, their territory spanned roughly 23,791px2 across the entire canvas when r/Place 2022 ended, and they had many other allies they did not share borders with whose territory is not included in this number. Including their disconnected allies, this number increases to roughly 31,974px2, or if we are to include the The Void, roughly 45,997px2.

Among their notable victories during r/Place are an almost immediate recovery from an xQcOW raid in the upper-right quadrant of the board that destroyed the Mr. Robot mask on the third day, managing to successfully hold back the void for the entire third and fourth day, forming a defensive wall between it and a significant number of pieces using their piece hellofriend, and successfully defending the Flag of Kurdistan along with Brand New Animal and Milwaukee during the final hours of day four.

History
Day 01: 01 April 2022
The alliance did not exist on Day 1; see the page for the fsociety_ text for Day 1 history.

Day 02: 02 April 2022
The Alliance was formed on the second day, when Ellie (known to the Rassicas faction as 'Squid'), reached out to the Mr. Robot r/Place Discord server for help trying to build the Rassicas faction's art piece, the Vernba head, since the Mr. Robot logo was nearby. However, unbeknownst to them, the Mr. Robot faction had actually been trying to expand their piece upwards to add the Mr. Robot mask above the logo, and so the two sides had been in an accidental build war.

Upon realizing what had happened, the Mr. Robot r/Place Discord urged the Rassicas faction to build their piece in what they had been told was an abandoned part of the Flag of Costa Rica. However, due to the ongoing war between Costa Rica and Spongebob's nose, as well as a lack of coordination between members of Costa Rica which ultimately led to the Mr. Robot mask being left uncompleted, this was unsuccessful, and the Mr. Robot r/Place Discord pledged to help the Rassicas faction rebuild somewhere else on the third day, as long as members of their faction helped build and defend the existing Mr. Robot art pieces.

It was at this moment that the alliance was born, as the Rassicas faction for the rest of the day would help defend the Mr. Robot mask from attackers. Notably, at one point Spongebob's nose attempted to extend into the mask; the Mr. Robot faction responded by not only holding their ground, but by also steering the nose in a different direction with their own yellow pixels, an early example of the Mr. Robot faction's signature use of social engineering tactics.

As these events were ongoing, the Mr. Robot r/Place Discord was also at war with r/xiuxiu, who similar to the Rassicas faction had tried to build above the Mr. Robot logo; in another show of social engineering, they held back r/xiuxiu's attacks by stalling that faction's leader by engaging in a long, deliberately confusing discussion on how they could set up instances of the Reddit Place Script 2022, the r/Place bot that most factions were using since it was publicly available.

Also on the second day was the formation of the alliances with the Chicago Cubs and the Seed, who both were able to hold out in territory otherwise governed by the Megaman Accords until the xQc raid on the third day, during which they took heavy fire and then were completely overtaken by the rebuilding of the Flag of Israel. The Chicago Cubs fled, and although the Seed almost managed to rebuild, they also disappeared soon after.

Day 03: 03 April 2022
After the second canvas expansion, the alliance started building the hellofriend text, establishing themselves in territory otherwise belonging to the final location of The Swarm, the organized faction for the void. They attempted to build the Vernba Head as an extension of the hellofriend text, but faced with the inability to do so, the two sides of the alliance reached a compromise, to build a smaller Vernba in the lower-left corner of the Mr. Robot mask.

TODO: Events between these two paragraphs

Later in the day, after the area around the hellofriend text had become less volatile, r/xiuxiu coincidentally tried to remake their piece yet again near alliance territory, this time near the large robot head that was originally planned to be above the hellofriend text. An agreement was struck, and r/xiuxiu found their final home, where they persisted until The Great Whiteout.

At the same time that this was happening, due to this area of the canvas being less volatile than during the first attempt to build the Vernba head, the small Vernba was abandoned and restored back to the Mr. Robot mask, and the full-size Vernba head was quickly established to the right of the hellofriend text. However, this was not without a minor build war against Banjo and Kazooie, who initially were trying to build on top of the northern border of the Vernba head; this mostly consisted of them placing brown pixels corresponding to Banjo's backpack and being repeatedly pushed back.

Later in the evening, xQc raided the upper-right quadrant of the board with black void pixels, decimating the Mr. Robot mask and several surrounding pieces. By this point, the alliance had figured out two key things: the most important thing to do during an attack is to hold your border, not your entire art piece, and concentrated attacks, be them from streamers or from The Swarm, were impossible to resist while they were ongoing, but incredibly easy to respond to after they ended. With this knowledge, they almost immediately recovered their territory, as did their nearby allies, r/PathofExile and r/Esperanto, as well as r/PathofExile's ally r/Cubers. Costa Rica, who they were also allied with, recovered first and almost immediately due to their massive manpower compared to all surrounding factions.

It was during this time that the alliance was able to significantly expand its influence on the board, allying with Vegan r/Place, r/Esperanto, r/PathofExile, r/OneShot, and r/SkyPlace. Indeed, the hellofriend text actually formed a defensive wall that, for the last 20 hours of r/Place, defended many pieces from attack, most notably Pogging Niko and the other r/OneShot pieces in the area, the r/SkyPlace piece Mothalisa, and r/OneShot's allies LOFI and r/EBM. It was during this time that a speech bubble tail was added to the hellofriend text connecting it to Pogging Niko, in order to signify their alliance.

As mentioned, originally the hellofriend text was going to have a large robot head above it; the alliance persisted on trying to build the large robot head long into the night of Day 3, during which the Flag of Kurdistan attempted to set up in the lower-right corner, above the hellofriend text. Ellie, who had since become one of the alliance's main diplomats, reached out to the Kurdistan faction, and negotiated that they move three pixels to the right, so the flag would not overlap with the planned robot head. However, they found themselves spread thin between attempting to build the robot head as well as defend the flag against concentrated attacks from both The Swarm as well as r/Kurdistan's main enemy, r/Turkey, and so r/Kurdistan fled, attempting to set up over the right half of Brand New Animal, and were not seen by the Alliance again until hours before the end.

Day 04: 04 April 2022
Early in the morning of the fourth day, an alliance was negotiated with The Swarm, the organized faction for the void. However, while this protected the hellofriend text from organized attacks, and indeed the server for The Swarm would after this point reject many proposals to attack the hellofriend text, it did little to defend them against randoms.

Thus, given the onslaught of randoms trying to expand the void, as well as people attempting to build in the area, it was decided that the full-sized robot head above the hellofriend text was untenable in the time that was remaining. Believing r/Place would likely end at 10-11 AM, around the time of the board expansions, the alliance decided to instead build a small robot head as an extension off of the side of the hellofriend text. This was built quickly, albeit it provoked an immediate reaction from The Swarm. One of the alliance's diplomats to The Swarm quickly explained that they had given up the space above the hellofriend text in favor of the smaller robot, which they felt was a fair exchange given they were conceding far more space to the void than they would have otherwise.

Despite this, the alliance had great difficulty keeping the robot head on the board, finding it repeatedly besieged by the white diagonal lines that formed in the void around this time, and eventually decided to give up the territory, at least until the void was less active, falling back on their tried-and-true strategy of holding their borders until such time they could rebuild. However, they wouldn't have to wait long to rebuild, as only an hour later, the Spanish streamer Auron descended on the void, splitting the Void Mother along its midsection with a banner for his Minecraft RP server and video series, Tortilla Land. This led to the entire lower half of the void being overtaken with a mixture of new art as well as flags, and while the void did eventually return, the hellofriend text as well as the robot head managed to survive until the space was retaken by the Flag of Ecuador, the Flag of Guatemala, and the Flag of Bolivia, forming a defensive wall that protected hellofriend for good.

At the same time as the fight for the small robot head, the Vernba head found itself under threat; to their right, various FIRST Robotics teams were creating small pieces consisting of their team numbers, and GRR 340, already having extended into the background of the Vernba head, was not content with what they had. In an attempt to build their entire team logo, they started trying to overtake the Vernba head, needing to be repeatedly pushed back. However, members of the alliance noticed that GRR 340 was starting to defend their territory with dummy Reddit accounts, and fearing an escalation of force that could lead to an all-out war with the FIRST Robotics teams, Ellie began reaching out to active Reddit accounts placing pixels for GRR 340 as well as Ranger Robotics, until she managed to reach a member of GRR 340 and negotiate a ceasefire; GRR 340 would stop attempting to expand over the Vernba head, but the Vernba head would share its white border with the border of GRR 340.

In addition to these two events, it was during this time that the alliance was made yet again aware of the Chicago Cubs. Having fled their location on the Flag of Israel, the Chicago Cubs had since had difficulty holding down their territory, and so they decided to reach out to their allies for aid. Ultimately, the alliance proposed a solution: the Chicago Cubs would relocate to directly underneath the robot head, changing their color scheme such that the red border around the robot head, the Vernba head, and hellofriend could be extended around them, communicating to nearby pieces that they were under the alliance's protection. Unexpectedly, other art pieces who noticed this also began extending the alliance's border as well despite not being allied with them, seemingly attempting to confer their protection onto themselves. This was a largely successful tactic, as two of the three pieces that did this managed to in fact survive until the end.

Ultimately, in the last hours of r/Place, Ellie decided to reach out to the r/Kurdistan faction to see what had happened to their former neighbors, and found them sandwiched between Brand New Animal, Milwaukee, Yuru Camp, and the Taskbar, seemingly more established than they had been on night three, but still under heavy siege from the Turks. Reaching out to the rest of the alliance, she managed to rouse a group to defend the flag, but noticed that Yuru Camp kept trying to extend over their border. Looking at the accounts placing pixels, she realized that the Yuru Camp faction had been hijacked by the Turks, who were attempting to exploit their placement to try and extend them over top of the Flag of Kurdistan as part of their efforts to remove the flag from the canvas. She attempted to reach out to the Yuru Camp faction to no avail, but was able to contact the Brand New Animal and Milwaukee factions, who pledged their aid. At the same time, members of the alliance began to set up bots to defend the flag, and the alliance, BNA, and Milwaukee were able to together defend the Flag of Kurdistan and keep them on the canvas until the Great Whiteout.

Ultimately, r/Place ended with the alliance's art pieces having only two incorrect pixels, one on the fsociety_ text and one on the Mr. Robot logo, and through their effort they managed to also defend many other art pieces in many locations all across the board.
Among Us is a social deduction game created in 2018 that exploded in popularity in 2020. As of r/place 2022, its popularity had waned but the game had settled into the zeitgeist of Internet pop culture. The simple design of the Among Us crewmates made griefing artworks with them easy and, sometimes, subtle. The crewmates, as part of pop culture, are often called "amongus" / "amogus" in the singular and "amongi" / "amogi" in the plural.
For a list of artworks that made it to the final canvas with Among Us crewmate griefing, see Among Us Crewmate Sightings.

Organization
There was no official organized effort to include crewmates in r/place 2022, as the phenomenon developed organically. Many redditors described the Among Us crewmates as an "infection" or "virus."

Types of Crewmate Design
There are about five different types of crewmates (not counting left / right distinctions), as found by u/PitsPower. The most common is a 5x4 design with a backpack, followed by a "minimongus" 4x4 design. The backpack on these crewmates is two pixels tall, and these account for approximately 1,600 crewmate sightings. There are also "no backpack" versions accounting for about 250 crewmates. There is also a three-pixel tall backpack variant, which includes about 80 crewmates. A final variant of Among Us crewmate is the "broken" version, which is recognizably a crewmate but lacks a leg or full visor.
The characters were repeatedly placed within the 4 sectors of the Windows logo and within the green section of the start button. Due to the large number of people involved with placing the characters, successfully combatting their presence was impossible, hence many crewmates being visible in the final result.

One of the first-minute submissions to the place subreddit was by the user Burning_Sulphur. They stated that they were going to make a fish. The design they shared was a very simple fish that was only made of 7 pixels. The simplicity of this cute fish and the fact that most people try to do massive projects inspired many to want to help protect this fish at all costs. This quickly lead to the formation of the r/place fish cult. Which went on to make fishes in all areas of the canvas.
moved to a different location near r/Turkey's Barış Peace sign until gets eaten by the Void
Final Place
moved to a different location near ARKadia's logo, ARK's Spanish Community where the spot is originally owned by MSI fan community that is contested by multiple factions until ARK allies up with "the Frog People" by preserving the Pixel Frog locally called as the "ARK Froggy" until it got wiped by other members of ARK's community outside of the Official Discord, scrapping the idea adding other tames like the Dodo, leaving a yellow border instead
r/place 2022
Artwork
Since the amount of people working to make the art was small, the decision was to be limited to making Maintane's head alone and not the rest of her body, and also not Kiffen (the other main character in the game). The sprite was made late into Day 2, but at the time people were asleep so it could not be used. The sprite itself used the closest possible colors to the ingame version at the time, substituting a flesh tone with white and the dark blue hair with black.
Creation
On the third day, because there was a lot of chaos and the canvas had expanded, everybody began trying to find a place to put Maintane since it now seemed possible to do. The first idea for a location was left of the ears of artwork of Big Chungus, but the spot was contested for by some people who made artwork of a frog head and the spot was given up for them. This turned out to be a beneficial occurrence as Big Chungus would be destroyed and turned into art of the streamer Quin69 and the game Chrono Trigger.

It was then chosen to relocate to an area that seemed to be contested for and at the time a bit of a mess and easier to try moving to. The community above, which turned out to be for The New Order: Last Days of Europe (shortened to TNO), was also building a logo and it was assumed that there would be no conflicts in building. Another reason for moving was because Maintane has black hair in the planned artwork, it could be easier to establish her since there was mostly black pixels around the area.

With the head now nearly finished, it was decided to make a border to mark where the art ends and also add some gray pixels as transparency. However, there was then the sudden realization when one of the friends zoomed out that the artwork for TNO was much larger than expected and the location of Maintane's head had some conflict with the intended design.

Fortunately, the people of the TNO community were kind and understanding and allowed the art to stay, and an alliance to protect the artwork for each group was made. Artwork for Loritta, another community, was planned as an alliance as well to be placed above Maintane's head. Thus, all three groups continued to protect each other and ensure everybody could make it to the final canvas.

Towards the end of Day 3, one of the friends had the idea to add a small transgender flag right of Maintane as many of the friends are transgender and nonbinary. Kiffen, although not in the artwork, is also nonbinary. The flag was constructed and used a different blue color due to the cyan around the area. Unfortunately, the flag was hit with a few noise pixels in the final canvas, although most of it can still be seen. But aside from the few noise pixels, the head, artwork for TNO and artwork for Loritta remained intact and made it into the final canvas.
Final Result
In the end, the artwork was pretty successful and all artwork made it to the final canvas aside from the few stray pixels.

With the Great Whiteout, Maintane remained mostly intact for the majority of the time and only finally was hit by a pixel much later. However, Maintane still would face the inevitable fate of the rest of the canvas and become one with the white void.
Addendum
The event was a ton of fun and a great experience. It has also inspired the idea for adding Kiffen instead for the next r/place so that the duo can be completed, although that will be a long time from now.

The event also resulted in the creation of the Subreddit r/K_M, which can now be used in the future.

Overall, it was nice and peaceful and the community is looking forwards to the future.

Julianne "Jill" Stingray is the protagonist and player character of the 2016 indie video game VA-11 HALL-A; Fore is her pet cat. They first appeared on the third day of the r/place 2022 canvas.
r/place 2022
Concept
Proposals to add Jill to the canvas existed as far back as 2017, but the Operation Bad Touch Discord server only started to earnestly consider proposals early in the third day, with the anticipation of the second canvas expansion. Users MysteryPig and Sodapone quickly got to work drafting templates, with MysteryPig coming up with an original design, and Sodapone opting to replicate the spritework in-game. Other members of the server gravitated towards Sodapone's design, and their template was chosen. MysteryPig further contributed to Sodapone's design by adding Fore underneath the kotatsu.

The template had to be redesigned numerous times due to space constraints at the canvas, as well as various diplomatic negotiations that resulted in what was initially a barren wall being filled with a variety of wall decorations. The finalized design was completed towards the end of the third day, well after the artwork on the canvas was completed.

Creation
Work began almost immediately after the second canvas expansion, with the beginnings of the border being laid out at 54:29, at (640,1650). However, other groups were able to secure their borders faster, and the VA-11 HALL-A community hastily relocated to (550,1550) instead. Assistance to the project was provided from the Gacha Alliance, with the Girls' Frontline community in particular providing extra manpower.

Progress was slow at first, and hampered by the Void passing along the right side--the progress was slow enough that some other smaller communities had already filled up the planned space. Through negotiation, the VA-11 HALL-A community was able to get some of these projects to relocate, while also working out a deal with the Men I Trust community to integrate Humming Man as a painting on Jill's wall. Further negotiations were made to incorporate the Campfire as another painting, followed by the Rust community as a sticker, and, finally, the Rainbow Slime, by putting it under the kotatsu with fire.

Two pieces of artwork were displaced with force; one of which, the PAUL text, was displaced by force to make room for Fore. They continued to attempt a resistance, placing light blue pixels on him over the next few hours. Seeing this, Sodapone felt guilty, and decided to add the PAUL text as another sticker in the template. This was completed on the canvas at 66:25.

One more change to the artwork was the replacement of the beer can on Jill's kotatsu with a Bad Touch, a cocktail from the game, named after the Bloodhound Gang song. This was added as a "calling card" for Operation Bad Touch, the Discord server on which most of the VA-11 HALL-A community's efforts were coordinated.

Final Result
After completion, Jill would have a very peaceful existence on the canvas, not seeing a single raid, although experiencing some minor vandalism. There were points where both the beer can and Bad Touch on her kotatsu had Among Us crewmates drawn onto them.

Towards the end of r/place, users started trying to put a blush on Jill. Initially the community condoned this, until users then started trying to give her an open mouth as well, reminiscent of an "ahegao" face. From there, making her blush was banned by the project leaders, and community members would try and remove the blush whenever possible. However, attempts from other users to make her blush continued until the Great Whiteout; ultimately, a small blush did make it onto the final art, as well as a mouth.

Due to her relatively peaceful location on the canvas, Jill was among the last of the artwork to be destroyed in the Great Whiteout, with her last pixels being blanked out at 83:13.
Inspiration
This artwork is based directly on the screen in-game that appears in between workdays, depicting Jill sitting at the kotatsu in her home. Earlier iterations of the template design incorporated other elements of the room; such as the sticky notes on the wall, the sliding glass door leading to the balcony, and the SLUT shirt on a clothes hanger. The other smaller artwork as wall decorations have a legitimate background in the game, as one of the game's mechanics involves buying various decorations for Jill's home.

The Windows Taskbar is a community effort to make a taskbar stylized as windows at the bottom of the r/place canvas. The Taskbar Community combined with lots of other smaller communities, reserving spaces for them in the taskbar. The originals, such as osu! and r/placeNL, were allowed full-sized taskbar applications. However, most later additions were only allocated square icons due to the growing number of applications. It was originally planned to be a Windows 98 taskbar, as it was in 2017, but with the addition of new colors and a wider canvas a Windows XP taskbar was chosen instead.

/r/place 2022
Creation
At the start of r/place 2022, there was no resemblance of the start menu. The bottom left corner was originally planned to be the starting point, but the swarm of Among Us characters prevented them from forming it.

At around 5:00pm on the 2nd April GMT, following The First Expansion, the Windows 98 Logo began to form and the beginning of the start button was formed. The logo and text were finished, albeit not perfect, and the Code Lyoko Eye of X.A.N.A was added to the right as a button.

However, mere minutes later, the Twitch streamer Kamet0 suggested to his ~50,000 viewers to place his logo in the same corner. This resulted in the entire area being blue within seconds, causing the taskbar team to reconvene.

The moderation team of their discord server was predicting The Second Expansion, and suggested that the design be switch to the Windows XP taskbar, since the extra canvas colors would allow it. Shortly after, a prototype template for the new design was published.

Conflicts
Capital Letters and Black Outline
In the scramble to start construction after The Second Expansion, many independent and less-informed players who were not using the official or up-to-date template began attempting to help with construction of the start button. This lead to inaccurate, mis-remembered replications of the Windows XP start button. These attempts included capital letters being used for the "start" text and a black outline placed around the text and the Windows logo. The r/PlaceStart community found these elements difficult to remove and resulted in many frustrated attempts to correct the errors.

Alternative Spelling Trolls
There were at least two groups of trolls attempting to change the spelling of both the start button and the r/PlaceStart text on the first taskbar tab.

The first known of these groups was r/PlaceShart, a troll group set up to replace all instances of the word "start" on the start button and taskbar with the vulgar word "shart" instead. This group did manage some success, with the r/PlaceStart text on the first taskbar tab being changed on multiple occasions, most often when the r/PlaceStart community was distracted by other conflicts.

The second set of trolls was an unknown group consisting of at least one individual attempting to replace the start button text with the word "stop". This group found short term success, shortly after the start button was griefed, however this was soon corrected.

Among Us Characters
As with many art pieces on r/place 2022, the Windows Taskbar was a victim of the placement of pixel-art Among Us characters. The characters were repeatedly placed within the 4 sectors of the Windows logo and within the green section of the start button. Due to the large number of people involved with placing the characters, successfully combatting their presence was impossible, hence many Among Us characters are visible in the final result.

French and Swiss Flags
Due to the Taskbar's proximity to the large French flag co-ordinated by French streamer Kameto, a small group of French Twitch viewers began attempting to expand the flag's border into the Taskbar's territory. This resulted in small 3x3 pixel French flags being placed in the blue border of the Taskbar. This action was quickly replicated by a small subset of the maintainers of the adjacent Swiss flag, resulting in much of the border around the start button and r/PlaceStart and r/OsuPlace tabs being replaced with French and Swiss flags.

The r/PlaceStart community briefly entered discussions with the the Swiss flag's maintainers to continue the expansion of the small Swiss flags around the border, overwriting the French flags to act as a deterrent to those placing them. Shortly after these talks, updated agreements with r/Switzerland, r/OsuPlace and r/PlaceNL lead to the blue border being restored.

Honduras and Armenia
As the construction of the Taskbar progressed, many other communities contacted the r/PlaceStart members asking to collaborate and create taskbar tabs of their own. The r/PlaceStart community attempted to negotiate size and placements with these communities to avoid conflict and prevent as much damage as possible to existing artworks.

One such negotiation occurred with a group wanting to place an Armenian flag on the taskbar. This group was allocated a position that was being taken up by the text of an existing tab maintained by r/NordicUnion and their allies. A miscommunication with the NordicUnion tab maintainers meant that they continued to heavily defend the text on their tab, despite the tab being modified in official templates to allow room for the Armenian flag. The r/PlaceStart community mistakenly assumed that the Armenian group had abandoned their allocated space and upon negotiation with members of r/Honduras, the space was reallocated to become a Honduran design instead - featuring the Honduras Flag, a red macaw and the Honduras international telephone code 504.

After the miscommunication with r/NordicUnion had been resolved, r/Honduras began construction of their flag. This angered the Armenian group who had also been promised the space beforehand, leading to the Windows Taskbar's largest conflict. Early negotiations seemed promising, with agreements suggested to split the space diagonally to create a combined Honduras-Armenian flag, however, the two groups quickly fell out. Despite efforts from the r/PlaceStart community to aid negotiations, the Armenian group's greater numbers overwhelmed the members of r/Honduras, leading to the space being completely taken by the Armenian flag.

The members of r/Honduras found some success in creating the Honduras flag at the end of the taskbar instead, in a hotly contested area that was eventually left unmaintained by the members of r/PlaceStart.

Creation
On the final day of r/place, it was built in a crossroads between the Doge Coin artwork and the Quackity artwork.

History
Before it was built near the Doge Coin artwork, it was built right on the Pig artwork. Quickly, a war started between Pig and Matthewhotdog50, but Pig eventually prevailed in the end because of much higher numbers.

Conflict
On the Pig artwork, Pig actually tried to overtake Matthewhotdog50 in its new place, but eventually gave up. The main competition was against Matthewhotdog50 and a now collapsed artwork, ATS. The "T" in ATS was their main offensive turret, but Matthewhotdog50 had so much alts that it took over them entirely, and just gave up.

Creators
The creators of Matthewhotdog50 were two individuals, one being Matthew himself, and one being Lukesharm, who was his friend. Together, they had many alts to crush incompetent competition.

Final Result
On the final canvas, this artwork was untouched except for the left eye looking somewhat odd.

History
The team behind the inclusion of 86: Eighty Six in 2022 consisted of those from the official subreddit and the official Discord server, and they managed to make three artworks on the canvas. The team consisted of anywhere between 50 to 150 people.

It started when u/Elevatorisbest (a.k.a. u/Orleniscool) made a post to the subreddit a few days before the beginning of r/place 2022. The post encouraged people to make 86: Eighty Six a part of r/place. Then, after the event began, u/TsuyoshiHaruka made another post on the subreddit about hte fact he already added "86" to the canvas. The discussion then moved to the Discord server, where a thread was created to discuss plans for the art. That thread became the base of operations for the group.

The following groups helped support the various artworks from this team:
* Starbound
