Created by brothers Michael and Cary Huang and hosted on their channel JacknJellify, BFDI has been running since January of 2010, and has 5 seasons in total. It follows the story of various common (and not-so common) objects battling it out to win prizes.

BFDI had two primary plots on r/Place 2022: one at the coordinates 494, 1077 depicting Firey and other characters, and one at 1575, 54 depicting Bubble and Leafy on Yoyleland.

After the announcing of r/Place in 2022, members of the BFDI and object show community got together to plan out what they'd do for 2022's r/Place. They decided to draw Firey, one of the original characters of BFDI and winner of Season 1. The design was chosen by vote on the r/BattleForDreamIsland subreddit, and shortly after the official BFDI channel (JacknJellify) released a video titled ''What if BFDI was in r/Place?'' Users decided to have Firey hold the flag of Ukraine on his left hand, and other users decided to construct a blue background behind the two with the end goal of having BFDI be over Ukraine. This was all in vain, however, and Ukraine completely covered up Firey and Leafy by 2 hours and 18 minutes in.

After the destruction of the original, attempts were made to construct Firey in the Green Lattice and slightly below the Ukraine flag. Both attempts were ditched after the Green Lattice and the Austrian flag overtook both attempts. It is to be noted that BFDI was allied with Green Lattice, but BFDI was taken over due to the hivemind, who were unaware of the alliance.

Firey was followed faithfully to the original design in the previous three versions. However, this time, Firey's design has been altered slightly, originally having three tufts before changing to the current zig-zag pattern of four.

This final version originally had the text BFDI in small blue text, before being expanded into large white text, then subsequently having a drop shadow applied. BFDI also successfully expanded slightly to the left, and Satomi's symbol was moved from right of the BFDI text to just above Donut. This version survived until the final bleaching.

After the first canvas expansion, the Inanimate Insanity community (II) constructed Lightbulb at (1632,84). Subsequently, the BFDI community decided to build Bubble and Leafy standing together on Yoyleland, a location in the show.

The artwork depicts Bubble, a large blue bubble; and leafy, a green leaf. Both are smiling in front of a yellow and orange sky. Beneath them there is purple grass, and the text BFDI.TV!!! is written in bright red and orange.

Unlike Firey, Bubble and Leafy never needed to be moved from its initial position.

Initially, there was only going to be Leafy on Yoyleland, and the total amount of space occupied was slightly larger. However, soon members of the community began construction of Bubble to the left, and people debated about the size of Bubble and the placement of the text. The text was originally black in colour.

Over the next few hours, the work managed to survive without incident. At around 34:54, a heart was built between II and BFDI to signify friendship.

At 37:18, the text's colour was changed from solid black to that recognizable red and orange gradient. There was arguments over the exact state of the grass.

The next few hours were without incident, as the terrain behind the characters were changed a bit.

At around 43:30, xQc attacked the general region of Bubble and Leafy with purple pixels. Members of the r/place community advised that the BFDI community change the colour of the grass from purple to blue to avoid potential spreading of the void, and to avoid the eye of xQc. The community agreed and the grass was blue for a time, and the artwork survived the raid.

The next several hours were without event, as the grass was cleaned up. Then, at 47:00, a group of blue pixels attacked Yoyleland, citing wanting to convert the plot into a TeamSeas logo. After about an hour of back and forth of people changing pixels. Members of the community entered the discord of the attacking group and attempted to launch a raid. Members of the attacking group allegedly sent death threats and other harmful messages to BFDI members.

In the end, it was agreed that Yoyleland would stay, but Lightbulb would be sacrificed. Lightbulb would later be reconstructed.

After xQc's attack, the void helped to provide a blank slate. Fourth generation Firey features a new design for Firey, more flowers and details in the grass (thanks to the expanded colour palette), and the introduction of Cloudy, more speaker boxes, Teardrop, Donut, and Rocky.

Firey was followed faithfully to the original design in the previous three versions. However, this time, Firey's design has been altered slightly, originally having three tufts before changing to the current zig-zag pattern of four.

This final version originally had the text BFDI in small blue text, before being expanded into large white text, then subsequently having a drop shadow applied. BFDI also successfully expanded slightly to the left, and Satomi's symbol was moved from right of the BFDI text to just above Donut. This version survived until the final bleaching.

After the first canvas expansion, the Inanimate Insanity community (II) constructed Lightbulb at (1632,84). Subsequently, the BFDI community decided to build Bubble and Leafy standing together on Yoyleland, a location in the show.

==== Description of Artwork ====
The artwork depicts Bubble, a large blue bubble; and leafy, a green leaf. Both are smiling in front of a yellow and orange sky. Beneath them there is purple grass, and the text BFDI.TV!!! is written in bright red and orange.

==== History ====
Unlike Firey, Bubble and Leafy never needed to be moved from its initial position.

Initially, there was only going to be Leafy on Yoyleland, and the total amount of space occupied was slightly larger. However, soon members of the community began construction of Bubble to the left, and people debated about the size of Bubble and the placement of the text. The text was originally black in colour.

Over the next few hours, the work managed to survive without incident. At around 34:54, a heart was built between II and BFDI to signify friendship.

At 37:18, the text's colour was changed from solid black to that recognizable red and orange gradient. There was arguments over the exact state of the grass.

The next few hours were without incident, as the terrain behind the characters were changed a bit.

At around 43:30, xQc attacked the general region of Bubble and Leafy with purple pixels. Members of the r/place community advised that the BFDI community change the colour of the grass from purple to blue to avoid potential spreading of the void, and to avoid the eye of xQc. The community agreed and the grass was blue for a time, and the artwork survived the raid.

The next several hours were without event, as the grass was cleaned up. Then, at 47:00, a group of blue pixels attacked Yoyleland, citing wanting to convert the plot into a TeamSeas logo. After about an hour of back and forth of people changing pixels. Members of the community entered the discord of the attacking group and attempted to launch a raid. Members of the attacking group allegedly sent death threats and other harmful messages to BFDI members.

In the end, it was agreed that Yoyleland would stay, but Lightbulb would be sacrificed. Lightbulb would later be reconstructed.

Their vocals are backed by heavy metal instrumentation, performed by a group of session musicians known as the "Kami Band" at performances.

Drawing started on the first day next to the Foxhole community to the right, with a lithuanian flag comming fast from the left to close the gap with Foxhole artwork.

The first objetive for the community was to get a tight rectangle to write "BABYMETAL". To do this they had to push Lithuania out of the zone. At the same time the Wall Street Bets subreddit community was building from below, and according to their design they would intercept part of Lithuania, Foxhole and vanish BABYMETAL.

Later, Lithuania agreed to concede part of its territory and BABYMETAL community completed the rectangle with text.

==Alliance vs r/wallstreetbets & Osu==

Wall Street Bets (a.k.a WSB) community was trying to push from below and soon after received help from its ally, the Osu community. The result left the BABYMETAL rectangle in shreds, but the attack also hit on the Foxhole community and triggered a three-way alliance with Lithuania to drive WSB out of the area. This would ultimately be achieved after the efforts of the Osu alliance were exhausted. Senko community (r/SewayakiKitsune) also helped from the south to push WSB out. Upon defeating WSB, the BABYMETAL community expands downward to make the canvas for their artwork. The artwork was completed on the early hours of day 2.

==Attempted change of location==

While the WSB battle was taking place, part of the community tried to draw second logo a few pixels away and below, near the Osu logo. Second logo was almost finished, but then an attack directed towards Osu by a streamer wiped out the zone. Efforts were redirected to the 1st Artwork.

==2nd Artwork & BAND-MAID==

The community joined with r/BandMaid to build the cover artwork of ''BAND-MAID'' album ''World Domination''. When completed, r/BABYMETAL built its own logo above this artwork. Soon after, contacts were established with the local neighbors, first with Twitch streamer Jhay (Luigi artwork) and later with r/Astroneer (blue triangle logo). Both agreed to an alliance. The upper border was held by Green Lattice which was a partial ally, but mostly neutral. After completion there was an attack of the void that was steadly repealed by the alliance.

This entire region was wiped out by streamer xQc during a void raid on the canvas. However, the reconstruction was swiftly completed without issues.

On day 4, the only menace was a forthcoming expansion of r/MKD flag, which was stopped by diplomatic agreements.

==3rd Artwork Attempt ==

Uppon the second expansion of the canvas r/BABYMETAL decided to build under the second artwork of its ally Foxhole. Below the space intended was an expanding Lithuanian flag that started take over the build zone. Contacts were made with r/lithuania, which was ally since day 1, but the flag was ultimately being build by twitch streamer Lturepublic.

Diplomatic contacts were made with the streamer, but he responded with a lack of interest in cooperating despite the alliance with r/lithuania and instead chose to trash the artwork persistently. Nevertheless, the area would eventually be taken over by r/BABYMETAL.

On day 4, Lturepublic started pinching around the 3rd Artwork as he was doing since the design was completed, but this time his audience has been instructed to create reddit accounts and they rapidly outnumbered the defense.

At the same time part of the r/BABYMETAL was defending r/BandMaid from a persistent invasion from r/MKD, so ultimatly was decided to abandon the 3rd position.
==Discord server raid (alleged)==
During the assault on the 3rd Artwork, Lturepublic decided to log into the r/BABYMETAL discord server while doing his livestream to brag about. His moderator also posted the public invite link in the livestream many times. This ultimately prompted some of his audience to do the same. In a very brief period of time, new users began to send offensive messages, or against the rules of etiquette of the server. This action was considered a raid by r/BABYMETAL, and some users went to report it on twitch.
==Operation Thunderclap==
Four hours later after the server raid, Foxhole community announced an operation to retaliate against the streamer by taking the spot were he was drawing his logo. The attack known as "Operation Thunderclap" was set to start at 01:00 UTC, with the objetive of build a Sabaton (swedish metal band) artwork. r/foxholegame, r/BABYMETAL, r/Sabaton and others were part of the operation, but also Osu community was ready to defend the artworks they have commited.[[File:Sabaton Joakim artwork.png|thumb|Sabaton Artwork|280x280px]]Lturepublic knew about the attack and decided to move first launching an attack on the 1st r/BABYMETAL artwork, but was quickly repelled with the help of Osu. As this move left their defenses empty temporarily, Foxhole decided to counterattack immediately. This decision ultimately was the right one as the operation was prompted 30 minutes early, and since it was not known at what time the event would end, it gave the possibility of reaching the goal.

An hour and a half later, the Sabaton logo was finished, just about 30 minutes before the end of the event.

The main colors used are yellow, orange, and white. A single pixel of brown represents the stem, while light and dark green form the leaf.

The orange began taking shape on the first day at 06:50 and was shifted to the left starting at 08:13 to avoid overlap with the [[Avatar Logo]] to the right. The orange was completed at 09:36.

The letters "jim" were written above the orange at 22:30, but faced opposition from a group trying to change them to "KT" instead. OJJ initially supported the former faction, but later decided to make the letters "OJJ" and completed them by 35:56. Each "J" received another pixel at 49:46.

The orange was never wiped out, and damage was generally minimal whenever it happened.

A periwinkle background was completed around 38:33 during the xQc attack on the area above osu!. Only a single pixel of the orange and two pixels of the text were affected by the attack.

A group trying to change the "OJJ" to "104" attacked the letters starting around 78:47. This group outnumbered the members of OJJ, but the alliance with Avatar paid off as reinforcements turned the tide. The 104 gang gave up by 79:52.

During r/place 2017 and 2022 The Blue Corner fought many enemies. In 2022 it faces a unique problem - the corner itself moved. The corner was completely relocated twice during r/place 2022.

The Blue Corner had many strong alliances, and strong enemies. To list, Cosmere, St louis blues, The American flag, the turtles, Scottland. these allays helped us out when we need it most. Enemies to list, Among us, The red corner, XQCow, Unorganized Members Of The Blue Corner. We were mainly mutual to the void.

In the end The Blue Corner was triumphant. Standing tall until the whiteout destroyed the whole canvas. When r/TheFinalClean finished their version of the canvas they vandalized The Blue Corner by placing their watermark over it.

The first project undertaken by Arknights was a blue text that said "Arknights". At first, due to the small size of the canvas on the first day, it was shortened to r/AK (standing for Arknights) and it was accompanied by a chibi Amiya as well as a logo of Rhodes Island(symbolized by a blue triangle with a rook). When the canvas extended, the Rhodes Island logo was deleted in favor of more space, and the r/AK text was rebranded to "Arknights", where it stood until the end of the canvas. The chibi Amiya was also kept for a very long time, until it was intentionally removed so that a small Poland flag adjacent to it could extend its borders. The Arknights text has been attacked more than once from rouge bots of the r/CLTV (anti-Chinese community) subreddit that were trying to extend the Pooh art's ear, though the Arknights community has successfully defended against all of these attacks.

Originally, a logo for the Reunion movement (one of the game's antagonists) was placed above the Arknights text. The icon, which looked similar to a DNA strand, would then be abandoned in favor of the other projects.

At this location, Arknights was allied with the r/Tetris community, the small Poland flag, and the "SP" and "i" artworks. Arknights was also on neutral terms with the r/CLTV community and the VRChat community.

This project was intended as a pet project by one of the Arknights r/place community leaders in an attempt to alleviate the lack of activity from the group. Dubbed as "Swagmiya", "Smugmiya", and "Pogmiya", the simple artwork featured the game's mascot, Amiya, with a smug smile and a pair of sunglasses. Situated near the original Arknights text and adjacent to the Elden Ring/Hollow Knight artwork and below the Genshin Impact Chinese logo, the project was finished within 3 hours of the first pixel being placed. The artwork did face an attack by an unknown group of attackers towards the end of the canvas, but the Arknights r/place community did manage to restore the artwork back to its original state, where it stood with little activity until the end of the canvas. Occasional appearances of "crewmate" from the popular game "Among Us" have occured on Amiya's hair, which got quickly patched and when whiteout occured, no such sight was spotted.

At some point, blushing Amiya was introduced by adding 2 pink pixel on both of her cheeks, but was reverted by the community's decision to adhere to the planned design.

At this location, Arknights was allied with Genshin Impact and Poland Ball.

In a collaboration with multiple other gacha game communities in the Gacha Alliance, Arknights created its icon alongside the r/place communities of Girls' Frontline, Guardian Tales, Honkai Impact 3rd, Genshin Impact, and eventually Touhou LostWord, Uma Musume, Azur Lane, and Poland Ball. With the addition of Azur Lane overlapping parts of the Arknights icon as well as parts of the Blue Archive icon, some members of the Gacha Alliance communities have taken to calling it "The Yostar Trio" due to the games sharing the same publisher: Yostar Games.

As Arknights was the first community to complete its first rendition of its icon, the community was also involved with the construction of the other gacha communities' icons, as well as the defense and reconstruction of the Gacha Alliance and its allies. This was made abundantly clear when Russian streamer 5opka invaded the Gacha Alliance through the logos of Honkai Impact 3rd and Genshin Impact, which was repelled with the combined forces of the Gacha Alliance as well as streamers BTMC and Enviosity.

The Arknights app icon itself featured Amiya, marking the character's third appearance in the entire canvas. The icon underwent 2 revision after its construction in an attempt to be more faithful to the actual Arknights app icon. Even after its completion, it saw many mistakes and independent trolling attempts, which were most concentrated on Amiya's eyes, nose, and mouth. Amiya's mouth was also a hot topic for debate amongst the Arknights r/place community, as there was a faction that wanted Amiya to have a smile, while another faction wanted to keep to the original by having her keep a neutral face. In the end, Amiya was given a smile before the beginning of the end of the canvas.

Although 5 years ago the vegan communities had made a lot of artwork, this year the primary goal was activism.
==Banners and QR codes==
Vegan banners had a lot of griefing due to being confrontational. There has been numerous attempts at establishing a stable banner. Out of the 8 attempts at creating a [https://watchdominion.org watchdominion.org] banner, 2 of them succeeded and made it to the end. There were 5 attempts at creating QR codes, 2 of them made it to the final image.

Vegan r/place had humble beginnings. With only a few dozen dedicated people they managed to secure a spot. They had to fight with the place hearts and the F1 community at first but later came to an agreement. The end of this banner was caused by a car streamer writing "FORZA FERRARI!!" on the banner.

Here they formed an alliance with Nyan cat and furries, got digested by the void then they undigested themselves. This banner was destroyed because it was abandoned after the first canvas expansion happened.

After the expansion the troops moved over to claim a new and bigger spot. A new alliance was also formed; a streamer called Tsumyka's community. They wanted to make the logo of their discord server on the canvas. So they worked together. The banner had at first another link besides Dominon: dontwatch.org. However, the community decided that watchdominion.org is a better and more objective documentary than dontwatch.org and it was removed from the banner. Instead, the Dominion link was made bigger. Alliances were also formed with r/deltarune and r/TheExpance. This banner was later wiped out by german colonialism.

The vegoons moved to above the blue corner, taking thee raspberry with them and formed an alliance with The University of Connecticut, who made a husky pixel art. This banner survived till the end.

The Go vegan was changed into "Vegan, btw" (because that's funnier, it's a gimmick from the subreddit r/vegancirclejerk) by attacking a bri'sh restaurant called greggs. An alliance was formed with r/transplace. Later the banner got wiped out and greggs took the place back.

The 2nd expansion happened so an even bigger banner was made on the new land. Alliances were formed with the tiny turtle in the left bottom corner, and a penguin who was placed in the second O in "Dominion". Pepe The Frog suddenly appeared on the banner and started petting the cow. The vegan r/place discord server decided to not fight them and let them pet the cow. Later when they left they made a memorial in the form of a frog pixel art.

This banner was the largest banner and survived until the end.

r/place 2022 was an event that took place on Reddit from April 1 to April 4, 2022. The first instance of r/place occurred in [[r/place 2017|2017]]. During the event, a shared canvas of pixels appeared on the [https://reddit.com/r/place r/place] subreddit on Reddit, upon which users could each place a single pixel of [[r/place 2022#r/place 2022 colors|color]] every five minutes.

==Rollout of colors==
On Day 1, the 16 available colors were red, orange, yellow, dark green, light green, dark blue, blue, light blue, dark purple, purple, light pink, brown, white, light gray, gray, and black.

At the start of Day 2, along with the first expansion of the canvas, dark red, pink, dark teal, teal, indigo, periwinkle, green, and dark brown were added to the palette, making for a total of 24 colors.

At the start of Day 3, along with the second expansion of the canvas, burgundy, pale yellow, light teal, lavender, pale purple, magenta, beige, and dark grey were added to the palette, thus making the total number of colors available throughout the entire event 32.

At the end of Day 4, all colors were disabled with the sole exception of the color white, thus triggering [[The Great Whiteout]]''.''

The alliance with Hungary were formed around the same time as the Romanian one. This were more of a non-aggression pact since none of the communities would protect each other’s artworks. On the second to last day the pact fell off due to some "rouge" people from Sweden and Finland that attacked Hungary.

====North-western Alliance & r/RuneScape====
The North-western Alliance (NWA), that r/RuneScape also were a part off, had a temporary non-aggression pact with the union to protect the union during night (UTC). It wasn't a solid pact and bounced between war and peace after the first 12 hours, this was caused by r/RuneScape wanting bigger area in return for the protection. This was later resolved and developed into a non-aggression pact but not a full alliance.

====r/anarchychess & r/chess====
This collaboration were founded in order to construct [https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnus_Carlsen Magnus Carlsen] on the Norwegian flag, the alliance also included protection of the Magnus Carlsen artwork. They also participated in moving Magnus to make room for the NWA.

====r/Destiny====
r/Destiny was situated between the Danish and Norwegian flag, their logo was built on the first day and the flags spread around to avoid the logo. An alliance was created for them to keep the union safe during night and the union kept them safe during the day. This turned out to be a good decision for r/Destiny since they got attacked by streamers, the union helped them fend it off and in gratitude they drew a Viking helmet on top of their mascot. The pact with r/Destiny lasted until the end of r/Place.

An alliance was formed between the union and Romania, this was done so none of the communities would intrude on each other’s artworks but also to protect each other from attacks. The alliance was strained when a Polish streamer took over the Romanian flag, the first wave was fended off but the second couldn't be held back. The union and Romania tried to find a new place for them, but this wasn't successful.

TF2 and Source went into and alliance with the union to stop getting attacked. This collaboration worked well as the Swedish wanted their logo moved to make space for more artworks on the Swedish flag, their logo was moved more to the right and left alone and protected by the union.

But the Czech did not want to, the Union didn't want to go into war since there were a pact between them. But Sweden wanted the real estate, a new term of "rouge Swedes", Swedes said this was Czech propaganda, were coined since the union could not control them. When the canvas expanded the union took the responsibility to help Czech move their flag and end the war, this was a successful move.

Hungary got invaded by "rouge Swedes" and the finish part of the union, Finland wanted more canvas area and saw the opportunity when Sweden wanted to expand. This time the union also declared war on Hungary after a long delay due to infiltrators for Hungary and lack of agreement in the moderation team. The full-scale attack led to the fall of the Hungarian flag and made it possible for the construction of the Silja-Line ship.
